Why we started Built Right Awards
Homeowners have a hard time telling good contractors from good marketers. We wanted a way to recognize the work itself.
Online reviews help, but anyone can collect stars. A paid listing tells you who bought an ad. Neither tells you whether the flashing was done right or the crew cleaned up at the end of every day.
Built Right Awards is an independent awards program. We don’t sell leads, we don’t rank contractors who pay more, and our judges score entries without knowing who submitted them. An award here means one thing: a real job, checked with the homeowner, that experienced tradespeople agreed was excellent.
Our judges
Judges are working or retired tradespeople with years of experience in the category they score. A roofer scores roofing and a kitchen remodeler scores kitchens. Judges never score a competitor in their own market, and they must disclose any connection to an entrant.
Our independence policy
- Entry fees pay for screening and judging. They never buy a better score.
- Judges see photos and the job story, not the company name or logo.
- Every winning job is confirmed with the homeowner before it’s scored.
- Badges carry an ID that anyone can check on our Verify page.
